Survival of the Fittest Isn’t Real

The lamps are different, but the Light is the same. One matter, one energy, one Light, one Light-mind, endlessly emanating all things.

Peace be upon you, beautiful human being!

Have you ever heard of redwood trees?

Yup, these bad boys right here!

Or rather…my undeniable proof for all of you who think life is one big competition.

The weak ones don’t survive ‘cuz they’re holding everyone else back. It’s their fault.

The strong ones deserve to survive and thrive ‘cuz they work hard for their money (?!). Or they just got lucky and won the genetic lottery.

Um, first of all…in my years and years of research & experience, there is no such thing as luck. And what-a-coincidence ain’t real. You heard it here first ^_^

It’s actually all about energy. You are what you attract, and you have the power to change that.

Secondly, this survival-of-the-fittest mentality is really regressive thinking, if you ask me.

Weren’t the strong ones once helpless, weak babies who required nursing from their mamas to breathe another day?

And what makes someone weak, anyway? The fact that they were born into poverty, or can’t afford to pay their bills?

What if that same person always swallows his anger for the sake of God? Are they still doomed to be cut out of the human genome?

Or is it the strong one’s fault?

Before we socratically answer that, here’s a curveball:

Do you know what’s so special about redwood trees? Before you google it, I want you to build this mindset:

You…live in a metaphor. This entire world? It’s a metaphor for your existence. Everything outside, the condition of the earth, the plants, the animals…is directly related to what’s inside of you.

Nature is bursting with examples – signs to make you reflect, think deeply and connect with something beyond this universe.

To make you realize your own superpower.

Now that we have this down, I’ll share something that changed my life forever. Being born into a first-generation immigrant household, I always believed that you should be one step ahead of your competition.

Number #1 is the most important title. It’s a crazy contest out there and you won’t make it unless you beat everyone else. That’s how you win the game.

Until I realized it’s not.

California redwood trees are the tallest trees in the entire world. How do they get to such seemingly impossible heights, so close to the stars, whispering intimately with the heavens?

They stick together. Their roots are intertwined. If a drought befalls the land, the water one tree has conserved is shared with all of the other trees. If a violent storm threatens their existence, they hold hands tightly, united as one, and not a single one falls.

Why do we say the famous phrases…United we stand, Divided we fall?

Because that’s how redwoods are the “kings of the forest” – the #1 reason for their surviving and thriving is that they make one another’s survival #1.

Read that again. It may be one of the most important sentences you absorb into your being. It sure was for me!

When it dawned over me that we are only as strong as each other, it was a eureka moment.

Then, I put it into practice and witnessed that every time I sacrificed a desire of mine to serve a fellow human being, opportunities arose for me out of the blue!

So, I got stronger as I served my beautiful humans and strived to show them how they could be strong, too!

What a beautiful symbiosis. What a beautiful world with such brilliant metaphysical laws that govern our lives. We are truly in this together.

Our purpose in life should revolve around serving one another, without any expectation except from Allah (God).

It is the purest form of love and joy, I promise you. Tried and tested.

Ooh, and also! We are all “feeding” from a collective consciousness. You know that saying we love…standing on the shoulders of giants before us?

That’s literal truth, too. Without those who sacrificed their lives for us, to bring us new ideas, languages, artwork, literature and even, our faith…even the strongest amongst us would be…nothing.

To salute our heroes of the past, we must pay it forward. Not maybe, not one day, but now.

If the weakest amongst us becomes stronger, our collective consciousness elevates…it rises to the next level and we all feed from that pool, to grow and evolve into better versions of ourselves – for one another. For the Unity we all descend from. For our One True God (Allah = Arabic Name for God).

So, the next time your neighbor asks for help in a sticky situation, or you hear of a storm in a far-away land, remember that we are one.

The harmony you see in the world and inside of you is a direct result of unity in everything. It’s all connected.

United we stand, divided we fall.

In God we trust.

What Will Prevent You From Progress?

Peace be upon you, beautiful human being of the world!

Here’s a lesson to be gently hammered into our heads.

When you’re trying to change for the better, do NOT ever compare yourself to anyone else.

Whether it’s physical appearance (“aesthetics“), IQ (which changes over time btw as the brain is malleable), house, car, yacht (!!?!lol), do NOT make this mistake.

The only exception to this rule is when you look up to someone who is more God-Conscious than you. Someone who is more generous, more loving, more smiling! 😀

Awwww you smiled! Gotcha there 🙂

Someone who keeps sunnah fasts, reads more Quran, and learns more knowledge.

Someone who loves Allah so much you can just see the light radiating from their face.

This kind of person is the only one you’re allowed to compare yourself to, and try to be like.

Other than that, all comparison means nothing. Nil. Zeeeero.

People who are pursuing excellence (ihsan), by definition, are those who have competition.

But who is their competition?

Themselves from yesterday.

Dunk, slam! Eureka. Bam, bam!

Just look at Michael Phelps. He doesn’t care about the way he looks, or the money he makes…as much as he cares about beating his own personal record.

Look at where it’s taken him.

If we as human beings adopt this rule, cosmetic surgeons may be out of business 😛

And mental health issues may alleviate to a great extent. Peace will be more than just a far-off ideal. Peace will be home, right in our hearts. Lord-Willing!

And we will evolve collectively, on the shoulders of giants before us, in a much more enlightened state of consciousness.

If I’m stronger, you’re stronger.

If you’re stronger, dude thanks, I’m stronger!

We’ll chit-chat more re:debunking survival of the fittest ‘cuz baby…we all in ‘dis togetha. That’s for sure.

Until next time…

With immense love x gratitude,

Add Value Always

Peace be upon you, beautiful human being!

This is a lesson I learned from John Maxwell. Whenever you are in a gathering, on the phone or with a loved one, ask yourself, “How can I add value to this conversation/moment/person?”

Don’t just wait for the other person to finish talking. Remember, leaders speak last. They eat last, too.

Let everyone else do the talking. Swallow that speech of yours. That’s ego waiting for a turn.

Listen and tune in.

Make others feel heard. Give them importance. Add value to a life.

Before you know it, as you sacrifice this habit of taking over the conversation, you’ll realize your relationships will begin to improve.

Soon, you’ll be running for Congress! (And winning, Lord Willing!) in sha Allah.

When You’re Confused…

Peace be upon you, beautiful human being!

Right now, I just finished sweatin’ it out on le treadmill.

Having no expectations going in, I put on my YouTube (Majed Mahmoud’s Tricks of Shaytan) and just went for it!

Somehow, 20+ minutes passed by in the blink of an eye. As for me, I felt…nothing short of euphoria.

I went in with a headache, and came out with absolute, earth-shattering clarity about a decision. Like a revelation.

I feel soooo good. Can you feel it, too?

So, my beautiful friend…

The next time you feel confused, you have a choice to make, you need a little break from that big ol’ headache –

Don’t wait, sweat it out & celebrate. Life’s short, it’s not too late. Go. Be the captain of your own fate (God-Willing).

Hold Onto The Rope Of Endless Hope

Peace be upon you, beautiful human being!

Have you ever had those days where you just want to stay under the covers forever? You feel like the whole world’s against you…and no one understands your struggle?

Well, I just had one of those days. Curled up on the couch with my head in my hands, I shared with my mom, “The batteries need charging.”

Heck yes, they do! At that low point, I had a choice to make:

Was I going to give up because the path was just too hard, or…

Would I cuddle myself to health, dust off my shoulders, and get back in the ring?!

(I’m still here).

The words that brought me the greatest comfort were those of Our Creator and Cherisher, Our Master and Our Lord, Allah (God):

“Whoever fears Allah, He brings forth a way out for him, and will provide for them from an unexpected source; God will be enough for those who put their trust in Him. God achieves His purpose; God has set a due measure for everything.” (Quran 65:3)

When the whole world seems like it’s against you, it doesn’t believe in you, and you have a vision that you know in your heart-of-hearts is your mission, you are not allowed to give up.

With Allah’s Infinite Grace, You MUST get back up. He’s With you. He Knows.

And that’s all that matters.

P.S. My heart is about to burst with gratitude for Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family), for this message of hope, of light and of life…that he sacrificed so much to share with us. I am so grateful for him.

After God, I love him more than anyone else and would give up everything just for a chance to see his (saw) face!

Immense Love x Gratitude,

Just Mishi

Lay the Weapons Down

Peace be upon you, beautiful human being!

Today’s world needs lots of problem-solvers just like you to not give up on your very special Dream. Yup, that one.

The one that’s been humming in your heart, but sometimes the voices outside are too loud and you just can’t hear the beat.

That one.

But what happens when someone ridicules that very special Dream? When someone calls you unrealistic or even…crazy?!

Breathe in, breathe out.

Do you still want it just as bad? Or did you let someone else talk you out of the very purpose you were sent to the earth for

Reflect. Change. Serve.

And remember, whenever someone else does not understand your dreams, you do not have to make it an ego battle.

Lay the weapons down.

The golden rule is this: Choose the path of least resistance.

If you stop at every pebble throw in your way, how are you going to make it to the finish line?

The people who are cheering for you are so much louder than the sour patches!!!

You just can’t hear ‘em yet ‘cuz you’re too focused on the wrong side.

Change your focus.

The earth needs you desperately – to step up, to put your ego on the ground where it belongs, to be a servant-leader.

The blessings will pour from every direction. Your path will be made easy, God Willing.

You just make that intention that you will never, ever give up.

This dream to do so much good is God’s Dream for you – how you will take care of the earth in a way no one else ever can.

Please take care of yourself first.

Love yourself first.

You need to tune in to that inner voice and focus.

Everything else is background noise that fades away.

It’s time to step up your game.

Lay your weapons down and focus.

With So Much Love x Gratitude (Light),

Just Mishi

The HIGHEST Pursuit in Life

Peace be upon you, beautiful human being (and doing!!!). How you doooinnn’?

This time I wanted to share the story of when I decided to actively change myself into a better person for a better world – in November of 2019. Subhan Allah!

Two weeks ago, it hit home for me. I was teaching a Saturday class for kids on Qur’an – the book Muslims believe was Revealed by God as a guide for humanity. On this particular day in time, we were discussing the different kinds of pursuits a person can have.

Huh? Pursuit? Well yeah, I mean we’ve all heard it in the American Dream, right?…”Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of…happiness.” Or is it?

Interestingly enough, in my (part-time FBI Agent curiosity that I like to label) “research” of a few verses of the Qur’an, I came across a couple of new perspectives.

First of all:

I found out that the pursuit of happiness is the lowest form of pursuit.

Huh? Did you hear that right?

Yes, it doesn’t take a lot to be happy. And no one is ever happy all the time – its not the way life works.

OK…so what’s above happiness…?

The pursuit of impact, on the other hand – is the second highest pursuit. I read all about the lives of human beings who had changed history. Nelson Mandela, Gandhi and Einstein all made the list.

They were people of impact. They didn’t care about the fame or the money or the records they beat – they wanted to solve a problem for the “greater good.”

What sets these incredible people apart from the rest of humanity is that they never stopped fixing themselves and their ideas. The praise didn’t matter, no. Neither did the money. They were after something more.

Forgetting everything society had taught me, I resolved right then that I wanted to die as a person of impact, so Help me God.

Then, I found something even higher. Huh? Yup, something higher than living a life of impact. What could that be?

The pursuit of truth. The single, hardest-to-achieve, highest pursuit that any human being can ever undertake. Connecting us to The Ultimate Truth.

It’s the legacy of prophets, messengers and saints like Prophet Abraham, Moses, Jesus and finally, Muhammad (peace be upon them all).

Their lives were literally the total opposite of a piece of cake. The hardest, ever. Yet, they seemed to be pushed forward by an unearthly force to get their jobs done.

Not monks, they were involved citizens of the world, who, while living in it, became the change. They embodied the message they were sent to deliver with their entire being.

And so, the awesome power of their message defeated huge armies and conquered world superpowers. Their message stood the test of time and thousands of years later, they are remembered and praised as our role models.

The ultimate pursuit in life is…you guessed it…truth.

In all areas of our lives, we will settle for nothing less. We will lay our lives on the line for the truth. What undeniably immense power this idea has.

Love & Gratitude,

Just Mishi

Why Do We Suffer? Why Can’t God Make This World Perfect?

Peace be upon you, beautiful human being! (and doing…:))

When I found the answer to one of the most pressing questions of my life, I was shook. Literally.

It was like the pieces of the most confusing puzzle instantaneously snapped together. Subhan Allah! Glorified is God.

Ok so here goes:

Can a mom be forgiving if her child never makes a mistake?

Can a father be patient if his child always does everything on time?

Can you be generous if everyone already has everything?

We were sent here to develop our character, to unveil the qualities of patience, forgiveness, generosity and mercy with one another…so after we die, we get to connect with The Infinite Source of these qualities – God Almighty Himself.

If we were perfect, like angels, would we get to experience God’s Qualities of Forgiveness, Mercy and Unconditional Love?

And there’s your answer 🙂 You, my powerfully human friend, were sent here with a superhero mission. It is your job to change this world for the better.

You were created to take care of it.

But before you do that, make sure to change yourself first. You are made from the earth, after all.

What happens to it happens to you.

Now, let’s get to workin’!

P.S. What do you think about suffering after understanding this secret? Does it all make sense now?

Paradise (and your wings!) awaits after this life of struggle. Pinky pro-mish! (get it?………)

Love & Gratitude,

Just Mishi

Make Your Wildest Dreams Come True With This

Peace be upon you, beautiful human being!

Reflections are seriously under-rated.

Take 5 minutes to sit down and journal in a dedicated notebook. Want that Nobel Prize, that ideal job, the secret recipe, the financial freedom, the opportunity to change the lives of millions for the better? Write it down.

See, something special…or shall I say, spiritual, happens when you write stuff down. Especially goals. It’s like you’re fiddling with the fabric of space-time – literally.

The #1 advice that has changed my life and allowed me to do meaningful work I love everyday while not worrying about finances is…

Being grateful in advance for everything I want to happen. For every single one of my goals. This was Oprah’s advice as well

I am so grateful I won the Nobel Peace Prize for building self-sustaining, socially responsible and health-oriented communities in developing countries, successfully eliminating poverty in much of the world.

Visualize the dress (or tux!) you’ll wear on that stage. Feel the rush of emotions. Oh, cry me a river!

As you elevate your energy to match the energy of your dream, keep changing yourself for the better by dropping bad habits + adding good ones, gradually you’ll notice everything around you has…changed. The people, the places, the stage!

And there you’ll be, realizing that it wasn’t about the prize all along…it was about the impact. It was about discovering the truth and sharing it with the world, fearlessly.

“The Nobel Peace Prize goes to (your name)…” They’ll announce in their proper Swedish accents…and shyly, you’ll make your way to graciously accept the award.

Money that you will invest into your projects…recognition that will connect you to an even wider network of helpers. In sha Allah…God-Willing!

Just remember, it always begins with gratitude.

Just Mishi

P.S. Don’t forget to be grateful and do your daily thank-yous for what you already have, while you envision and work for that beautiful future for the world.

Seek and You Shall Find

Peace be upon you, beautiful human being!

From life experiences, we uncover a very important truth. A metaphysical law. A certain mathematical formula…

Here are the steps to unlocking this uniquely human treasure:

  1. Clarify your intention. The more sincere it is, the better. If you have claimed your superhero status and want to serve Allah (Our One & Only God) and help creation, congratulations! ‘Tis the purest intention with 100% guaranteed results.
  2. Figure out what you want and do not be afraid to ask for it. Voice it aloud. Your craziest obsession (“passion”), your deepest existentialist thought, your secret-est question (“God, if you exist, how come…xy..z???”)…If you really want it, ask for it. Be broken, weak, powerless, confused, skeptical, frazzled – the human experience is delightfully colorful, and logically so.
  3. Open your heart, no matter what the answer. Sometimes, the truth clicks, everything’s dandy and it’s a merry-go-round. Fireworks, glittering sunset… the whole sha-bang. Other times though…not so much. The truth may be cloaked as a bitter pill, to test you, to develop your character, to increase you in goodness when you rise to the challenge.
The greatest gift to humanity – something I realized recently…a freebie from the Most Generous Creator of the universe so we freely question, but they get answered and satisfy our souls, too!

Hand on my heart, scout’s honor, the universe (one song of a singular Creator) will deliver. It’s literally designed to do just that when you set out on a mission.

Ugh, I’m so passionate about this, I feel like making a video on it! What do ya’ll think? Would that help hit it home? I love your comments and feedback – keep ’em comin’!

Tomorrow’s Chit-Chat: Why, oh why do we suffer?!? Why aren’t we pure angels, bruh! The question I always had…until…tomorrow, we meet again 🙂 God-Willing!

Love & Gratitude Always,

Just Mishi
